ASHES INTERMENT CHECKLIST

In order to purchase the right of burial for an ashes plot purchase here’s a checklist of the things we need you to do.

It's possible to pre-purchase an ashes plot before it's needed so the checklist has been divided into two. Complete the first steps to pre-purchase a plot for later use or all of the steps to purchase a plot and inter ashes.

Please return the completed Licence to Occupy an Ashes plot application form

The Licence to Occupy an Ashes Plot form should be completed with the details of a living person as the Right of Burial certificate will be issued in this name.

Please return the completed Order Form

The Order Form lets us know about all the items and services you require. We'll issue an invoice based on this form.

Choose the plot or plots you require

This is usually done at the same time as a visit but we can assist you in choosing a plot without visiting if you require it.

Pay the invoice as issued to you

BACS payment information is included on the invoice itself. Once the invoice is paid we will create the Right of Burial for you. We’ll then invite you along to get this signed and issued.

Sign the Right of Burial Certificate(s)

You come along to sign two copies of the Right of Burial Certificate and we sign both copies too. We keep one copy and you take the other one home with you.

The steps above are what's required to pre-purchase an ashes plot for use at a later time.
If you already have ashes you'd like to inter then the following steps are required too.

For an interment we need the above plot purchase paperwork completing as above but in addition require the following information.

Please return a completed Notice of Interment form or forms.

We require one notice of ashes interment form completing for each set of ashes to be interred. Make sure you complete all details about the urns to be used and the method of interment required.

Please return the completed Order Form

If you haven't already done so above then please complete the The order form to let us know about all the items and services you require. We'll issue an invoice based on this form.

Decide if you’d like to hire a celebrant

A funeral celebrant is a qualified person, usually from a non-clergy background, who officiates funeral services. We can provide the contact information for a number of celebrants so you can book with them directly.

Let us know if you require a plaque for the ashes to be interred.

Memorial plaques usually take 6 weeks to be returned to us once the design has been approved and paid for. Please bear this in mind if you want the plaque to be ready for the interment itself. Plaques can             be installed at a later date after the interment itself if needed.

Let us know if you need to purchase any biodegradable urns.

Ashes can be interred in any biodegradable urn or simply buried without an urn. We do have a selection of biodegradable urns to purchase if you’d like one though.

Let us know if you’d like to book our Remembrance Room for your funeral service

The remembrance room can be booked for a 3 hour block for a funeral service and / or wake afterwards.

Let us know if you’d like the interment date you would like.

Weekend and bank holiday interments incur an extra charge due to requiring additional staff on ourpeak periods. Mon - Fri interments which are not on a bank holiday incur no additional costs.

Pay the invoice as issued to you.

Once we know your interment requirements as above then we can issue an invoice to you.

Confirm the date, arrival time and any additional interment details.

Let us know your requirements for the day itself. It’s a good idea to let us know as soon as possible the date you’d like to work to. We can then run through details with you a bit nearer the time. Please let us know the number of cars and guests expected.
